Post Match: Chemelil (A)

Leopards drew 1-1 with Chemelil.

MichezoAfrika reports:-

Hosts Chemelil Sugar came from a goal down to hold visitors AFC Leopards to a one all draw in a packed but tense match that witnessed some moments of stone throwing from the Chemelil fans.

Both goals were scored from the penalty spot in each half with AFC scoring first in the 25th minute through Jonas Naimana. Abbas Kiwalabye who missed Chemelil’s match in Naivasha on Monday against Gor Mahia scored Chemelil’s equalizer also from the penalty spot to draw parity as both sides shared the points.

The match was however characterized by some moments of insanity when AFC Leopards fan Isaac Juma received hostile reception as he was stoned when at half time when he entered the field for his normal lap of honor around the pitch.

AFC Leopards let go a 1-0 half time to share the spoils with hosts Chemelil Sugar in a Kenyan Premier League game played on Saturday 29 October 2011 at Chemelil Sugar.
In the first ten minutes of the game, ingwe showed great intent as they dominated proceedings before the hosts setltled into the game.

Leopards should have gone 1-0 up on 24 minutes had Brian Masiolo fromer Western stima forward Brian Masiolo not wasted a neat feed through by Jimmy Bagaye.

But Masiolo earned his team a penalty on 34 minutes which Jonas Nahimana stepped up to send home tto make the score 0-1 for the visitiors.

Ingwe threatened for a second before half time but a corner kicks on 41 minutes was wasted. Chemelil closed the half with a highlight – when Ooko Smith gave way for James Masasa as Coach Edwards Manoah strengthened his midfield.

During half time there was tension after a juju man did a lap round the stadium. But his tease in front of Chemelil fans led to his beating before Police intervened to calm the situation.

Coach Manoah brought in 2010 top scorer Tonney Opondo [seven goals] to take up Daniel Murage’s place, a change that seemed to send Chemelil Sugar forward.

On 71 minutes, Chemelil got a penalty which was sent home by defender Abbasi Kiwalabye to bring the scores level , a result that remained to the end of the game.

The results move both teams to 39 points but Chemelil remains fifth from 26 games and Leopards having played a game more are back sixth.
