Pre Match: Thika Utd (A)

MichezoAfrika reports:-

AFC Leopards maybe reeling from a six match losing streak but their ever colorful, dancing and affable fans popularly known as ‘The Blue Brigade’ will once again descend on the industrial town of Thika for a league match against Thika United.

AFC Leopards boasts of the largest fan base in the country with a rich history having collected a record 12 league championships, 5 CECAFA titles and six president cup and several continental appearances. The club has served its “wise and loyal” supporters with pain and joy in equal measure. The fans have been ever loyal with the club traversing the country with the team and have braved pain, anguish and dejection for the losses (eight in total.)

This weekend, the Blue Brigade will attack Thika town in support of their beloved team as they seek to return to winning ways. “We are going for nothing but three points in Tsika (Thika),” Vincent Were, an ardent supporter of Ingwe.

The fans have planned a caravan from Nairobi to Thika town starting at 9.30am. “We shall meet at Jeevanje Gardens where all the branches shall assemble. Kawangware, Kangemi, Facebook and Komarock are coming in numbers. Thika will be painted blue by ingwe,” Fred Lutta, a fans mobilizer, revealed.

Ingwe fans have recently embarked on various charitable activities through their supporters trust called Claws, an acronym for Club of Loyal and Wise Supporters. They have visited children homes, done CSR in Kawangware and Komarock.

Carol Radull predicts:-
Thika United Vs AFC Leopards Today 3pm
Thika
My prediction: Thika 2 – 1 Ingwe
Thika United conceded an annoyingly late goal against Gor Mahia last week to get no points out of their first match under new coach John Irungu. Thika have a young side without much experience but with a lot of drive. Their defence is good while Moses Arita is doing extremely well upfront. Infact he’s due to go for trials at Supersport United; I just hope he’s around for this match. AFC signed great strikers during the transfer window but the lack of a decent midfield leaves no one to supply the balls upfront. And backroom issues are seeping onto the pitch. Subsequent losses to Tusker and Sofapaka have the management begging Nick Yakhama to resign; while my dear friend Jacob “Ghost” Mulee is being touted as a possible replacement. Don’t do this “Ghost”; you know how it’s going to end up. As my colleague on Simba Super Soccer Arnold Kanyangonda said this week; AFC stands for Always Firing Coaches! I just feel the club needs to settle on players and settle on a technical bench if they are to get results. Enough of trial and error! AFC began 2010 with Yakhama in charge, fired him; hired Chris Makhoha, fired him; hired Robert Matano; fired him; hired Dino Kitavi, fired him; hired Robert Bollen who lasted just one match this season before quitting. Re-hired Robert Matano, fired him; hired Nick Yakhama; and about to fire him. Laughable!
